Alejandra González Soca (Maldonado -Uruguay,1973), artista visual, docente y psicóloga. Licenciada en Artes Visuales por la Universidad de la República y Psicóloga por la Universidad Católica. Ha exhibido sus proyectos tanto en Uruguay como en el exterior, incluyendo: el Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales, Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo, Centro de Exposiciones SUBTE, Montevideo, Museo Histórico Cabildo de Montevideo, Centro Cultural de la República el Cabildo, Asunción, Espacio de Arte, Universidad de Lanús, Buenos Aires, Museo Casa del Risco, ciudad de México, Museo Qorikancha, Cusco, Perú, Casa Memorial Salvador Allende, La Habana, entre otros.

National School of Fine Arts, University of the Republic, Uruguay (2002) and a
degree in Psychology from the Catholic University of Uruguay (1995). She has
taken part in various workshops related to contemporary art production and
curation, such as: Contemporary context analysis and project tutorials by
artist Carlos Capelán, 2011; Sismo
(international artists' programme)
with curator Daniel Fischer (Argentina), 2014-2016; Works analysis and
process tracking in contemporary art projects with artist and curator Andrés
Labaké (Argentina), Contemporary Art Space (EAC), 2017 and Curating in Context,
coordinated by curator Verónica Cordeiro, 2017.
Her work
has been exhibited in Uruguay and abroad, including the National Museum of
Visual Arts, Contemporary Art Space, Juan Manuel Blanes Museum, Cabildo
Historical Museum and SUBTE Exhibition Centre in Montevideo, Cultural Centre
Kavlin (Punta del Este), Qorikancha Museum (Cusco), El Cabildo Cultural Centre
(Asunción), Casa del Risco Museum (México city) and the Salvador Allende
Memorial House (Havana), among others.
She received several recognitions, such as a fellowship for creation
“Justino Zavala Muniz”, Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay (MEC);
Funds for Culture program of Uruguay's (MEC) and the Sponsorship Bicentennial
Commission Uruguay, all through an open competition. She was selected for the
48th Montevideo Visual Arts Prize and the 55th and 56th National Visual Arts
Prize, Uruguay and invited artist in the 7th Contemporary Textile Art Biennial.
González Soca has participated in international artist residencies like,
Curator, Santa Fe, Argentina (2017), Centre for Archaeological, Art and
Heritage Sciences Studies of the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2016),
BomeRoom, Ciudad de las Artes, Córdoba, Argentina (2013). Since 1999 she has
been Director of the CASAB Art Space. She is a teacher in the Bachelor of
Visual Arts and the Bachelor of Education study programmes at the Catholic
University of Uruguay.
She
currently lives and works in Montevideo.
